To get beautiful hair and to keep it healthy, you need to wash your hair properly. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to wash your hair the right way
Initial rinse
Once in the shower, make sure you set the water temperature to warm so it’s not too hot and not too cold.
It needs to be hot enough to start to melt the grease and oil that clings to your hair, but not too hot so it burns or irritates the skin.
The correct amount of shampoo
Place a small amount into your hand – around a tablespoon should be fine – and work in the shampoo at the scalp.
That way, you’ll remove grease and oil where it’s most concentrated. From there, massage the lather down your hair fibers.
The outside of each hair is covered in cuticle scales, kind of like scales on a fish, so work from roots to tips in the same direction as the cuticle, to avoid damaging the hair.
Also, try not to lather your hair in a circular motion, and never pile it up on your head to lather – it can create permanent knots, something we call “bird nesting”.

Rinse off
Rinse your hair starting from the roots to the tips, allowing the water to run through the hair. If you experience very dirty or greasy hair, it’s recommended to repeat these steps.
Don’t forget the conditioner
While shampoo cleanses, a conditioner acts as an important moisturiser for your hair. Squeeze out excess moisture from your hair and spread a small amount of conditioner onto your palms.
Concentrate on spreading the conditioner into the scalp as well as along the hair shaft.
